WHAT IS THE FOOLISHNESS OF GOD?

Can God really be foolish? I guess it’s one of the weirdest questions you’ve heard. But it is actually worth discussing. How can the Ancient of Days be foolish? In fact, Proverbs 3:19 says that “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding He established the heavens”. So we can say that He is full of wisdom. When we consider the things he has created such as human processes such as digestion, excretion, and respiration, it is so clear that a wise person is behind them. No wonder we use the expression, “God in his infinite wisdom” which means his wisdom has no end.

But in 1 Corinthian 1:25, Paul boldly uses the phrase “the foolishness of God”.

1 Corinthians 1:25

“For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”

Also, Paul’s expression in 1 Corinthians 1:25 does not necessarily imply God is Foolish. It rather implies that if man thinks he is wise enough to disprove the existence of God, the least level of God’s wisdom is far beyond the intelligence of the greatest scientists, philosophers, and inventors men have ever produced. The distance between God’s wisdom and understanding and men’s wisdom and understanding is so wide that it cannot be imagined.
